The problem may be that all the Canon products need “Special” software to load images from their cameras. That and as mentioned above, most library computers are LOCKED down to prevent the importing of any files.
Many Canon users have opted to use memory card readers and carry them with them in their camera cases. A good USB 2.0 card reader can cost as little as $7. Get one and you will not have this problem again using Canon cameras on any computer but perhaps one in the library. Check with the librarian and see if she/he can help

BUT, Library machines have so much NetNanny stuff on them that they might block access to USB drives.
Possibly admin access to the machines is needed, and if so, good luck with the ladies at the front desk. They’ll look at you like a porn pervert.
