How Do You Clean Dust From Under Canon Powershot A540 Lcd Screen?

Is it possible?
My Grandfather is having some issues with dust UNDERNEATH the LCD screen. It’s not on the glass itself, but under it. It’s rather annoying when looking at it to try to take a picture.
Any suggestions?
Again, it’s a Canon Powershot A540 (in case that makes a difference)
Thanks for any help! :)

  1. hey
its possible to clean underneath that but its gonna cost him some money for real
he might wanna think about getting something different…… others suggest using the viewfinder.. you say that’s your grandpa? he might just like using the screen cause its easier to see and he prolly got that p&s cause they easy to use. i got one myself and they do take good pix
    good luck

  2. No, not unless you want to pay around $80 to remove it. You cannot remove it since it takes special tools and techniques to get to the dust.
You may just want to put up with it, since it is the image file that counts, not the P&S LCD
While when new, you paid nearly enough ($350) to buy an entry level DSLR, it is over two and a half years old … P&S cameras are usually replaced every three to four years. You may want to start looking for a new one.

  3. Exactly, just transfer the images to the computer to view them.

  4. If the screen bothers him, tell him to use the viewfinder. I have that camera, and it takes good pictures.
